Individual parameters typically determined on an individual case-by-case basis

Is a Septic System Inspection The Same As An Engineering Evaluation?

bullet with arrow

Absolutely Not!

An inspection at best may answer the question if the system is currently functioning properly?

Is It Possible To Predict The Life Of A Septic System?

bullet with arrow

Determination of an "Exact Life Span" - no

bullet with arrow

However there are "Indicators" that allow for evaluation & predicting performance

bullet with arrow

A properly designed, installed & maintained septic system does not have a defined life span other than the limitations of the systems components

System repairs & adjustments may be periodically necessary - the soil itself "Does Not Fail"

What Are The Costs?

"My understanding of your service is that it would go beyond the typical inspection of the SSSDS and provide a more thorough evaluation of property potential dictated by SSSDS design/site restrictions. I agree that this is a niche that would assist buyers of commercial properties in what their expectations should be when purchasing these types of properties. I also think that having an engineer (rather than a licensed installer) evaluate an existing leaching system has some advantages beyond just education level. Specifically, I have seen situations where a licensed installer who performed inspections was probably a little too “dire” with the inspection report findings to the extent that system components or the entire system was unnecessarily recommended for replacement in order to allow this same installer to perform the repairs. Being an engineer who does not actually install/repair SSSDS’s removes this potential conflict of interest that can sometimes lead to this type of dishonesty (Most installers are very qualified and honest with their assessments and these bad apples are the exception)."

"I also like your service to assist in operation and maintenance of the system to increase system performance and longevity. Your assistance to the property owner at the diner was undoubtedly helpful to reduce kitchen flows and handle grease removal effectively. This is another valuable niche that would be money well spent to a commercial property owner that has multiple use tenants, particularly those with food establishments."

"I really like the document."
